Body Armor Water Review: Super Overhyped or Super Healthy?

Are you pumped for my Body Armor water review? Who would have guessed that alkaline water would become so popular among athletes? I guess anything is possible in today’s world.

Body Armor Super Water is this new company’s way of joining the alkaline water revolution that has taken the sports world by storm. Once Kawhi Leonard told people to stay away from acidic water and drink alkaline water during an interview with GQ, people began taking alkaline water more seriously.

In my Body Armor water review, you’ll see a pH test video to confirm if this “super” water is what it says it is. We’ll also check where to buy it for the cheapest price, the ingredients, current Body Armor water reviews, and of course, my two cents.

Shall we begin? Let’s start with the most important part: the pH test video.

What’s the Body Armor water pH?

Body Armor advertises a pH of 8+ on the label, which is a slightly alkaline pH. Other competing brands usually have a pH of 9 or higher.

The young scientist in the video below runs a pH and TDS (total dissolved solids) test for Body Armor water. Let’s see the results:

  • pH 7
  • TDS 58

It appears that Body Armor water failed to reach its pH promise of 8 or higher. The pH tester drops aren’t the most accurate tool in the shed when measuring pH, but they do a good enough job to confirm that the pH is below 8.

The TDS tested in the ideal range for reverse osmosis filtered water. Here’s the problem, though. Body Armor is selling its water to athletes to replenish electrolytes.

The water should have a higher TDS if there are more minerals in it than regular bottled water brands.

Next, let’s check out where to buy Body Armor water.

Note: I did notice that Body Armor changed the label since he ran his pH test to say “pH 8+” below “Superior Hydration,” so perhaps they changed the formula.

Where to Buy Body Armor Water for the Cheapest Price

Body Armor certainly came out swinging with its price tag. The best price I could find online is for a 12-pack on Amazon. Click the link below to check the current price:

You might be able to find Body Armor water for sale locally at a better price if you can track down cases of it.

Buying individual bottles will cost more than the 12-pack. In my opinion, you’d have to really love this water to buy it.

Let’s check out the ingredients next.

What’s in Body Armor super water? I always check the label of all bottled alkaline water brands to see how they make their water alkaline.

Here’s the list of ingredients on the label:

  • Reverse osmosis water
  • Potassium bicarbonate
  • Calcium Chloride
  • Magnesium Chloride

Did you know there are different types of alkaline water? Some brands are naturally alkaline artesian water while others are alkaline ionized water.

Which is Body Armor? Neither.

Body Armor starts as reverse osmosis water – which is normal for bottled water brands – then they add an alkaline mineral blend to raise the pH of their water. Reverse osmosis water typically has an acidic pH since the reverse osmosis filtration process removes all the minerals.

Other brands such as Essentia actually ionize their water to deliver more alkaline water benefits. It appears that Body Armor skips the ionization and just adds its alkaline mineral blend, which explains why the pH is lower than Essentia and other competing brands that ionize their water.

Overall, I’m not impressed by Body Armor’s ingredients or manufacturing process.

Body Armor Super Water Reviews

Before I share my review, let’s see what current drinkers have to say about Body Armor water. Is it really good for you and amazing enough to justify its high price?

  • The people who are fans of this water love the taste and how refreshing it is.
  • Several people consider it to be the best bottled water currently on the market.
  • One parent reported that it keeps her daughter well-hydrated.
  • One person measured a pH below 7, which is similar to what the young scientist found in the video above. I’d like to see a pH test with a calibrated digital pH meter or water quality report that proves this water is alkaline.
  • Body Armor did manage to turn one person who always thought water tasted gross into a hardcore water drinker.

I’m impressed by the taste reviews for Body Armor water. It may not have an alkaline pH, but it certainly has a unique taste that people love.

What did you think of the Body Armor water reviews? Now, it’s time for my review.

My Body Armor Water Review

Body Armor is undoubtedly one of the more unique alkaline water products I’ve reviewed over the past year. Considering my bottled alkaline water knowledge pool is overflowing, I feel qualified to help you decide if this water is worth it for you and your wallet.

I’ll break my review into two parts: the pros and the cons.

The Pros

  • Body Armor certainly got the flavor of its water right.
  • The pH is at least neutral. I do prefer to drink alkaline water, but neutral water is still better than acidic water.
  • Reverse osmosis filtration does an incredible job of removing impurities. You can be sure you’re drinking purified water when you purchase Body Armor water.
  • The potassium, calcium, magnesium blend is a nice touch.
  • I like the design of the bottle, and it’s BPA-free.

The Cons

  • The price is the highest I’ve seen of all the bottled water brands I’ve reviewed.
  • The TDS is a bit low considering Body Armor advertises more electrolytes for better sports recovery.
  • Body Armor doesn’t ionize its water.
  • They provide fewer details than other brands about how they make their water. A water quality report would also be nice to see.

How to Make Body Armor Water

After checking out the Body Armor water ingredients, I got to thinking about how to make this water at home.

In my opinion, you can make this water inside your home using a reverse osmosis filtration system with a remineralization cartridge. Click here to check out a reverse osmosis system at Amazon that adds calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

For the price of just a few cases of Body Armor water, you can have a steady flow of reverse osmosis water with added minerals to boost pH.

As far as better bottled alkaline water brands, Essentia makes a superior product since you need a home water ionizer to duplicate Essentia’s process.

Click here to check the current prices for cases of Essentia at Amazon. It’s currently A LOT more affordable than Body Armor super water.

Final Thoughts

If you’re in love with the taste of Body Armor water and have some extra cash to throw around, it’s not a bad water brand. It’s certainly better than a lot of popular water brands that are acidic.

Even if you’re not after the health benefits of alkaline water, most people prefer the sweeter taste of alkaline water.

If you’re looking for a more cost-effective, long-term alkaline water solution, it’s a better idea to look elsewhere. Essentia is a great ionized water brand, and Icelandic Glacial water is hands down my top pick for alkaline spring water.
