Body Armor Super Water is this new company’s way of joining the alkaline water revolution that has taken the sports world by storm. Once Kawhi Leonard told people to stay away from acidic water and drink alkaline water during an interview with GQ, people began taking alkaline water more seriously.
In my Body Armor water review, you’ll see a pH test video to confirm if this “super” water is what it says it is. We’ll also check where to buy it for the cheapest price, the ingredients, and of course, my two cents.

What’s the Body Armor water pH?
Body Armor advertises a pH of 8+ on the label, which is a slightly alkaline pH. Comparatively, the top-rated alkaline water brands mostly have a pH of 9 or higher.
The young scientist in the video below runs a pH and TDS (total dissolved solids) test for Body Armor water. Let’s see the results:

It appears that Body Armor water failed to reach its pH promise of 8 or higher. The pH tester drops aren’t the most accurate tool in the shed when measuring pH, but they do a good enough job to confirm that the pH is below 8.
The TDS tested in the ideal range for reverse osmosis filtered water. Here’s the problem, though. Body Armor is selling its water to athletes to replenish electrolytes.
The water should have a higher TDS if there are more minerals in it than regular bottled water brands.

What’s in Body Armor super water? I always check the label of all bottled alkaline water brands to see how they make their water alkaline.
Here’s the list of ingredients on the label:
- Reverse osmosis water
- Potassium bicarbonate
- Calcium Chloride
- Magnesium Chloride
Did you know there are different types of alkaline water? Some brands are naturally alkaline artesian water while others are alkaline ionized water.
Which is Body Armor? Neither.
Body Armor starts as reverse osmosis water – which is normal for bottled water brands – then they add an alkaline mineral blend to raise the pH of their water. Reverse osmosis water typically has an acidic pH since the reverse osmosis filtration process removes all the minerals.
Other brands such as Essentia ionize their water to emulate a home water ionizer. Contrarily, Body Armor skips the ionization process and adds an alkaline mineral blend to boose the pH, which explains why the pH is lower than Essentia and other competing brands, including AQUAhydrate, that ionize their water.
Overall, I’m not impressed by Body Armor’s ingredients or manufacturing process.
My Body Armor Water Review
Body Armor is undoubtedly one of the more unique alkaline water products I’ve reviewed over the past year. Considering my bottled alkaline water knowledge pool is overflowing, I feel qualified to help you decide if this water is worth it for you and your wallet.
The Pros
- Body Armor certainly got the flavor of its water right.
- The pH is at least neutral. I do prefer to drink alkaline water, but neutral water is still better than acidic water.
- Reverse osmosis filtration does an incredible job of removing impurities. You can be sure you’re drinking purified water when you purchase Body Armor water.
- The potassium, calcium, magnesium blend is a nice touch.
- I like the design of the bottle, and it’s BPA-free.
The Cons
- The price is the highest I’ve seen of all the bottled water brands I’ve reviewed.
- The TDS is a bit low considering Body Armor advertises more electrolytes for better sports recovery.
- Body Armor doesn’t ionize its water.
- They provide fewer details than other brands about how they make their water. A water quality report would also be nice to see.
How to Make Body Armor Water
After checking out the Body Armor water ingredients, I got to thinking about how to make this water at home.
In my opinion, it’s easy to make this water inside your home by using a reverse osmosis system with a remineralization stage. Choose one of our top-rated reverse osmosis systems w/ remineralization for best results. Each of these systems adds a unique blend of calcium, magnesium, and/or potassium.
For the price of just a few cases of Body Armor water, you can have a steady flow of reverse osmosis water with added minerals to boost pH.
As far as better bottled alkaline water brands, Essentia makes a superior product since you need a water ionizer to duplicate Essentia’s process. If you prefer natural alkaline water, then Icelandic Glacial water is an excellent alternative to Body Armor.
Final Thoughts
If you’re in love with the taste of Body Armor water and have some extra cash to throw around, it’s not a bad water brand. It’s certainly better than a lot of popular water brands that are acidic.
Even if you’re not after the benefits of alkaline water, most people prefer the sweeter taste of alkaline water.
If you’re looking for a more cost-effective, long-term alkaline water solution, it’s a better idea to look elsewhere.
