Since you’ve most likely heard about all the alkaline water benefits people are experiencing all over the country, you want to be sure you’re buying legit alkaline water.
While this isn’t as high as other bottled alkaline water brands, it’s high enough to get introduced to the healing power of mineral-rich alkaline water.
Here’s a list of reasons why Waiakea Water tastes so delicious:
- The water starts as snow and rain that filters down through thousands of feet of volcanic rock at the Mauna Loa Volcano.
- It has a TDS (total dissolved solids) reading of 110, making it lighter and softer than most tap water. This is one of my favorite aspects because a lot of alkaline water filters simply add minerals to your water to boost the pH, which can result in a higher TDS than you need or want.
- A nitrate level of .59 mg/l – This is a measure of purity. Water that’s been contaminated by fertilizers, septic tanks, and other waste has a higher nitrate reading.
- The water is fresh. According to Waiakea, it takes under 30 days for the water to filter down through the volcanic rock. This results in lighter, crisper-tasting water.
- The water is full of healthy alkaline minerals and silica. Silica is highly beneficial to hair, skin, and nail health.
- The bottles are BPA-free and 100% RPET.
- The water maintains its pH while stored and has a printed “best by” date of 2 years beyond its packaging date.

My Review
Now, it’s time for my Waiakea Water review. I’ve done my due diligence and feel qualified to offer a unique and honest analysis.
Here’s what I like:
- This water is undoubtedly tasty water. If taste is a key factor in your buying decision, more than likely you’re going to be happy you signed up.
- The bottles are BPA-free, and the company donates to people in need of water in Africa through its partner, Pump Aid.
- The water is indeed slightly alkaline (the keyword here is “slightly”).
- Competitive price compared to other premium water brands
- The water comes from America.
- The low TDS reading – I prefer water with a low TDS because I don’t like the thought of getting too many minerals in my diet through my water. I prefer to let my food do the heavy lifting.
- The high silica content
Here’s what I don’t like:
- I’ve spent significant time in Hawaii because I have some family there. Native Hawaiians aren’t very fond of outsiders (Haoles) profiting off their land. I’m really good at sniffing out superficiality, and the way the company words some of its responses and content makes me think they’re not natives. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Waiakea founders are what native Hawaiians call “Haoles.” I could be wrong, but that’s the feeling I’m getting.
- The company claims alkaline ionized water is equivalent to the “GMO’s of the water world.” They go on to deride ionized water with a persuasive argument that lacks any scientific evidence to back it up. I look at this as their way of trying to sell to ionized water drinkers who prefer water with a higher pH than they offer. The information they provide appears bogus to me and actually made me chuckle to myself. I’ve spent many hours and late nights researching scientific studies that back up alkaline ionized water benefits. I’ve never come across any information that lines up with Waiakea’s claims.
- The low alkaline pH – If you’re after alkaline water benefits such as acid reflux reversal, the pH is too low to reap the full benefits of alkaline water.
I think that’s the most honest Waiakea Water review currently online (trying to be modest).
Final Thoughts
