Is LIFEWTR good for you? Is it alkaline? Those are the two main topics of discussion today. With all the new bottled water brands popping up, it’s nearly impossible to figure out which one is best for you without trying them all, which is also nearly impossible.
That’s where I come in to help you. I’ve done all the research so you don’t have to. Over the past several months, I’ve reviewed a long – and growing – list of bottled alkaline water brands, and I can tell you without a doubt which ones are legit and which ones are not.
Is the LIFEWTR alkaline level high enough to supply these benefits? Is LIFEWTR alkaline or acidic?
Let’s answer the most important question by starting with the LIFEWTR pH level test video.

Before you watch the video, let’s check out what LIFEWTR says.
This means LIFEWTR is either slightly acidic or slightly alkaline. If you enjoy the benefits of drinking alkaline water like me, this is bad news.
Now, let’s watch the LIFEWTR pH test video:
What did you think? To me, it looked like the final pH was about 6.5 once he gave the drops a chance to settle.
The future scientist in the video gave LIFEWTR a score of 5.5. He could have gotten clearer results if he used a capped test tube and shook the sample.
The problem with drops and pH test strips is they’re only so accurate. To get the best results, you need to use a calibrated digital pH meter.
Does that mean it’s bad for you? No, it just means, it’s not alkaline water, which leads us to the next section.
Is LIFEWTR good for you?
Now we know LIFEWTR is not alkaline. If you’re after alkaline water benefits, LIFEWTR is not the brand for you.
Slightly acidic water isn’t necessarily bad for you, so let’s see what else is in LIFEWTR before we determine if it’s good for you.
The best place to start is with the ingredients on the label.
Ingredients
Here’s the list of LIFEWTR ingredients:
- Purified water (reverse osmosis)
- Magnesium sulfate
- Potassium bicarbonate
To be honest, LIFEWTR is probably the least exciting water I’ve ever reviewed.
Most bottled water brands use reverse osmosis filtration because it does a phenomenal job of removing all minerals and impurities from water. This is good news.
The problem with reverse osmosis water is it’s usually acidic. It’s essentially blank water with nothing in it.
Most alkaline water companies add special mineral blends that include calcium, magnesium, and potassium to boost the pH of their water.
LIFEWTR uses only magnesium and potassium, and as shown in the pH test video, their blend does not raise the pH of their water to an alkaline level.
TDS
TDS (total dissolved solids) is the measure of dissolved minerals in your drinking water. In the pH test video above, the young scientist also measured the TDS of LIFEWTR.
The reading on his meter was just 21 ppm. This is a low reading. I prefer a low TDS and alkaline pH, but even this reading is too low for me.
The low TDS reading (partly) explains why LIFEWTR is slightly acidic.
Is LIFEWTR good for you? My final answer is yes and no. Their water is indeed purified since they use reverse osmosis filtration, but the slightly acidic pH is no good in my opinion.
You’re better off investing in your own equipment to make superior water with an alkaline pH. I’ll show you how you can do this in the next section.
How to Make LIFEWTR at Home
I love to reverse engineer a product. That’s one of the greatest advantages of inspecting a food or beverage label. Companies must list their ingredients, and then we can figure out how to make it ourselves.
LIFEWTR is the most basic recipe I’ve seen of any bottled water brand I’ve reviewed. Other brands require a home water ionizer to make their water, such as Essentia alkaline ionized water.
Here’s what you need to make LIFEWTR at home:
Yup, that’s it. A reverse osmosis home water filtration system with a built-in remineralization cartridge will get the job done.
This system also has the added benefit of calcium. The mineral cartridge in this system contains calcium, magnesium, and potassium while LIFEWTR contains only magnesium and potassium.

Do you want to know the best part? The RO system makes alkaline water instead of slightly acidic water. The TDS of reverse osmosis water is also a healthier level for drinking water with more essential minerals than LIFEWTR.
Final Thoughts
Is LIFEWTR good for you? Well, it’s certainly not bad for you. It’s important to keep in mind that the purity level of water is more important than the pH of water.
Think of it this way. Water that’s impure with an alkaline pH is still unhealthy. Purified water with a slightly acidic pH is 100% okay to drink.
The EPA recommends a pH level between 6.5 and 8.5 for drinking water. Even the EPA agrees that water should be alkaline.
The water I drink every day is alkaline ionized water with a pH between 8 and 9.5. I love the stuff. It helped me reverse a nagging case of heartburn and returned my precious energy to me that had been missing for so long.
Considering LIFEWTR has a pH that’s nearly below the EPA-recommended minimum, I can’t recommend this water with confidence. Plus, it’s so easy to make at home with a reverse osmosis water filtration system.
If you’re looking for alkaline water or alkaline ionized water, there are much better options available.
